Top Management Night – Summary
April 2015

Sixty members, guests and managers enjoyed a top-notch Top Management Night on April 7th at Harry’s Savoy Grill. Each attendee received a complimentary box of chocolates from Neuchatel Chocolates and an excellent dinner.

Our speaker was Vinay Gupta from the Happen Group, an Innovation Company. He spoke on ‘Innovation: Past, Present, and Future’, and discussed how to improve our innovation-to-application success rate. Simply put, a sound innovation process is simply “a reproducible process of creative problem solving” and “applied invention”. The participants all gave high marks for the presentation.

This was also our awards night.

Save the Date: Our final PDM for this year is May 12th. The speaker will be Dr. David Dobrzykowski from Rutgers University. His topic “Coordinating Health Care Delivery – A supply chain approach”. Join us at the Christiana Hilton in Wilmington for this great evening.

2014 APICS Student Scholarship Awarded to Widener University Student
April 2014

On Thursday, March 27 the APICS Brandywine Valley Chapter was proud to present the APICS Scholarship Award to a rising Senior at Widener University. Justin Kohli was recognized as an outstanding Operations Management student who demonstrates strong potential for a successful career in the Operations Management field. Justin, a Delran, NJ native, is a junior majoring in Management with a concentration in Operations Management. In addition to his concentration, he is pursuing the Certificate of Recognition from SAP. Justin is an avid sportsman and plays for the Widener golf team. Our congratulations go out to Justin, with best wishes for his future success.

2013 APICS Student Scholarship Awarded to University of Delaware Students
May 2013

On Friday, March 10, the APICS Brandywine Valley Chapter was proud to present the APICS Scholarship Award to two rising Seniors at the University of Delaware. Kimberly Eagle and Charles Field (not pictured) were recognized as outstanding Operations Management majors who demonstrate strong potential for a successful career in the Operations Management field. Kimberly was also a participant in the 2013 APICS Case Competition held by the Mid-Atlantic District. Our congratulations go out to these two exceptional students, and best wishes for their future success.

2013 APICS Student Scholarship Awarded to Widener University Students

2013 scholarshipOn Thursday, March 28 the APICS Brandywine Valley Chapter was proud to present the APICS Scholarship Award to two rising Seniors at Widener University. Andrew Vogel and Sara Wendt were recognized as outstanding Operations Management majors who demonstrate strong potential for a successful career in the Operations Management field. Andrew and Sara were also participants in the 2013 APICS Case Competition held by the Mid-Atlantic District. Our congratulations go out to these two exceptional students, and best wishes for their future success.

Member, Instructor, and Company of the Year Awards
June 2009

At the May PDM, the Southern Delaware Valley Chapter presented the Member, Instructor, and Company of the Year Awards for 2008-09.

Steve Selway, SPHR, was named Member of the Year. Steve serves on the Board as VP-Marketing. He led the effort to develop a chapter marketing plan, which included the holding of the January seminar and PDM on Career Insurance.

Al Leigh, CPIM, CSCP, was named Instructor of the Year. Al led the development of the chapter’s CSCP offering and has been the lead instructor in the program. He receives consistently high reviews for his teaching.

Supply Chain Consultants in Pike Creek, DE, was named Company of the Year. This is the second time that SCC has received the award. SCC has encouraged all of their consultants to complete the CPIM and/or CSCP certifications. They have also supported the chapter by speaking at PDMs and organizing seminars. Sujit Singh, CPIM, CSCP, Chief Operating Officer accepted the award.

Congratulations on receiving your awards and thank you for your service to the chapter.

2009 APICS Scholarship Award
May 2009

Alex George of Widener University is the recipient of the 2009 APICS Scholarship Award. The award was presented April 1 at the Widener University School of Business Administration Awards dinner on April 1 at Harrah’s in Chester, PA.

Alex is a resident of Wilmington Delaware and graduated from the Charter School of Wilmington. He is an Operations Management major and is scheduled to graduate in December, 2009.

Alex is also a student member of the Widener University and Southern Delaware Valley chapters. Some of you may have met him at the March PDM.

Congratulations to Alex and best of luck in the future.
