Michael Kutner is a Principal with the North Highland Company, a global management and technology consulting company headquartered in Atlanta and operating locally from offices in Philadelphia and Washington DC. Last year North Highland was ranked by Consulting Magazine as the 3rd best global consulting company in the world to work for, the 4th year in a row they were ranked in the top 5. If you have consulting experience and are looking for a new challenge, Michael will gladly take your card tonight.

Michael started his career with Cigna Corporation as a commercial underwriter, and then joined General Electric’s Quality organization, earning his Black Belt and Master Black Belt designations. This period in the 1990’s and early 2000’s turned out to be the hey-day of GE’s Six Sigma program and convinced Michael of the power of process-based organizational transformation. Michael left GE to help Johnson & Johnson grow and solidify their Process Excellence program and joined their Consumer Pharmaceutical Group in 2002, where he led their Process Excellence program until 2006, when he left to join North Highland.

5 years ago Michael caught the volunteering bug and has been trying to make up for lost time. He currently serves on the Board of Supporting KIDDS, a Delaware-based non-profit providing support to families with children dealing with the sudden loss of a parent. Michael is a Penn State grad, and serves on the Alumni Board of the Abington branch campus of Penn State University, where he’s leading the “Alumni Back In The Classroom” Initiative. If you’re a Nittany Lion Michael would welcome a “We are..” chant.

Michael most recently turned his attention to the area of storytelling and how it can be used in the workplace to re-energize the collaborative problem solving mindset in organizations. To encourage growth in this field, Michael is currently volunteering as a consultant to the Board for First Person Arts, a Philadelphia based nonprofit organization training people in the storytelling techniques that transform real life into memoir and documentary art.

Last year Michael went skydiving because things were getting a little boring.

He is excited and pleased to be here tonight.
